Stop! Today is the day I stop biting my nails

You are always telling yourself: “Today is the day I stop biting my nails”, but you constantly find your nails in your mouth without even realising it. But it can’t go on. You can no longer stand those shapeless nails at the end of your fingers stopping you from wearing coloured nail polish for fear of others noticing the state of your hands.

You want to stop to protect what is left of your damaged nails.

1 – Stopping the craving in its tracks

Easier said than done! Nail biting has become an unconscious habit, made worse during times of stress, or even when relaxing when your hands are not even busy. Who has never found themselves biting their nails while watching a film, while on the phone with a friend or even when driving?

To avoid biting your nails all day long, use a bitter polish. Its dissuasive bitterness will stop you wanting to bite your nails. As soon as you feel the bitterness wearing off, repeat your polish application and leave to dry fully.

2 – Promoting healthy nail growth

By being bitten all the time, your nails will have become brittle and more susceptible to splitting and breaking when they start growing again. Application of a protective and regenerating base coat under the bitter polish promotes growth of healthier nails.

The Anti-splitting Nail Care prevents nails growing split and the Hardening Nail Polish ensures your nails are hard and resistant at last.

It is also possible to stimulate nail growth using the Growth Activator applied by massaging the root of the nail.

3 – Taking care of the nail contour

Since you were biting your nails you were probably also biting the skin around the edges and it is also essential to take care of your cuticles. How? First of all it is essential to effectively moisturise them, as when they are too dry and when they are fiddled with all day, the area around your nails may bleed. To do this, massage the nail contour daily using a fortifying nail and cuticle oil or nourishing nail and finger cream depending which type of texture you prefer.

To avoid temptation and for a clear nail contour, push your cuticles back using a small wooden stick, once you have softened them with an emollient gel for damaged cuticles.

With a little patience, perseverance and determination, you'll break your nail biting habit to let your nails grow long and be able to manicure them as you want.
