In 1981, Patrice and Danielle Soyer, two entrepreneurial and pioneering pharmacists, were working together on contact lens products, when they came to a simple realisation: ophthalmologists, concerned about damage to the cornea, were advising women with contact lenses to avoid using make-up.
So, while women were doing away with glasses to accentuate their eyes, at the same time, they could no longer enjoy wearing make-up!
The two pharmacists applied their complementary expertise to develop a range of products with a clear objective: to design cosmetics specifically formulated to prevent any irritation or allergic reaction upon contact with the eyes and eye contour area.
The fragility of the eye and the eye contour was the starting point for developing our expertise in high-tolerance cosmetics.
They decided to consider every aspect of the process: selecting non-irritating and non- allergenic ingredients, while avoiding all potentially-harmful, occlusive and ionic substances, respecting the pH of the eyes and skin, carefully dosing fat content and, most importantly, ensuring the compatibility of the pigments which bring colour to beauty products. This strict requirement for tolerance led to the founding formulation principle of “Bio-Inertia®”.
Following extensive research, rigorous testing and work with ophthalmologists, allergists and dermatologists, the result was Eye Care Cosmetics, the first High-Tolerance brand specifically designed to combine beauty and safety.
